I pseudo-hate New Year’s resolutions; people decide that January 1st is the universal day to tell everyone that they are going to lose thirty pounds before the end of the week.
I do, however, have a deep appreciation for brutally honest self-assessment, well-developed plans to change, and earnest follow through, which is why I recently made a commitment to read at least one book every two weeks. I’m not saying that reading a book is exactly a groundbreaking plan for intense personal development, but I’ve learned that it’s a lot easier make a series of successful small changes than to wake up one day as a Fortune 500 CEO.
One of the books that I recently finished is Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi. While you’d find it in the business section, I’d recommend that everyone read it. Never Eat Alone is about building a network of meaningful relationships and not being that guy who annoys everyone in the room, walks away with a handful of business cards, but gains nothing. It is an excellent source of information that I wish I’d read a year ago.
