Once more, with feeling...
I went for a run this morning, my last jog around campus as an undergraduate. I made sure to pass by some significant places from my college career:
- Central Classroom, site of my very first college class, Math H161 8:30 AM MTWRF
- McPherson, Celeste, and Evans labs, where I spent the majority of my freshman and sophomore years as an indentured student of the chemistry department
- Denney Hall, nexus of all my po-mo literary aspirations as an English major
- Neilwood Gables, my first apartment-style living experience from sophomore year
- Biological Sciences building, where I spent my formative years as a molecular genetics major
I have strong emotional and memory associations with physical places, and I have experienced so much personally and academically in these 2.8-square miles that it is a little overwhelming. I wrote in my last entry about why I think it is important to live on campus (or as close to it) as possible during college, and I definitely think my experience would have been different had I lived at home. Even though I hope to eventually leave Columbus, I will always have a special place in my heart for campus.
