Dancing the night away and playing Rock-Paper-Scissors for charity (and an iPod Touch).
Rock paper scissors-
Cut, cut, cut it out of my life.
-The Parlotones' "Rock Paper Scissors"
Over the Summer I've been hard at work planning for Welcome Week.
You see, I am the President of Swing Dance Club (hence the picture at the top of this blog; it's Swing Dance Club in the background). I am also the Co-Chair for the 4th Annual Rock-Paper-Scissors Charity Tournament by Romophos Sophomore Class Honorary. Each role comes with some major Welcome Week awesome-ness.
Saturday night at 8PM is United We Dance. It's at the RPAC North Gym. Swing Dance Club partners with TangoOSU and DanceSportOSU (ballroom dancing club) to offer students a fun mix of lessons and dancing. This way, new students can figure out which type of dancing most agrees with them.
Sunday afternoon from 2-5PM is the 4th Annual Rock-Paper-Scissors Charity Tournament. It's also at the RPAC. This thing has been my pet project all Summer. Countless e-mails, phone calls, RPAC reservations, etc. all amount to this AWESOME Tournament. We've got $800 in prizes, plus the Grand Prizes of an iPod Touch and Free Domino's Pizza For 1 Year. We've got the DJ and event space at the RPAC. We've got the capability to accept donations both in cash and BuckID. It was a ridiculous amount of work, but it has come together very nicely.
The point of all this nice self-event-promotion is to make a point: OSU is the kind of place where you can sample 3 unique dance styles one night, and then win free pizza for a year playing Rock-Paper-Scissors the next day!
It's the kind of place where you can be in the World's Largest Pillow Fight, participate in The Best Day of Your Life, and see the Buckeyes play football.
It's the kind of place that's full of awesome.
So go to events, freshmen. Enjoy!
Take care,
Rob
