A job all about speaking my mind and ranting...  Sweet!

Listen closer to the words I say

I'm stickin' with the wordplay

My friends have always told me that I talk too much.  I never thought I'd get paid to do it though.  Enter Awesome Job 1: Buckeye Blogger.

Basically, I am compensated (in small increments) to keep this crazy blog up-to-date.  The idea is that students (and parents too!) want to know what life is REALLY like at OSU.  Sure, there are pamphlets and statistics galore.  But how many of those will talk about packing an umbrella?  Which of those "official" sources of info describe the awesome-ness of Swing Dance Club?

That's where I come in.

I'm here to give you, the reader, the REAL scoop.  When classes stink, I'm allowed (and even encouraged!) to say that they STINK.  When things are awesome, I also should tell you about what makes them so crazy awesome.  In this way, anyone in the whole wide world can take a peek at the average day-to-day life of your run-of-the-mill OSU student.

In many ways then, my bosses for this job are NOT the people who work in the First-Year Experience Office.

Rather, I work for me, because here I can rant and rave and ramble on about whatsoever I desire.  But truly, secretly, my real boss is YOU.  I'm supposed to keep you informed, tell you what's great, what isn't so great, and what things are honestly like at The Ohio State University.

That is precisely why I love this job so much.  The comments from prospective students, the ability to communicate with people who just want to know more about life at OSU...  These are the fun parts of this job!  And hey, aspiring writers, you too can be a Buckeye Blogger!  We typically hire in the Spring; just make sure you keep an eye/ear out on the Buckeyes Blog for word on applications.

Who knows?  Maybe someday I'll be an alum commenting on YOUR Buckeyes Blog!

Take care,
Rob
